The Bud Light Street Beat Free Concert Series continues in Vail tonight with The Mother Hips.

Head down to Checkpoint Charlie in Vail at 6pm tonight to experience this indie music group.

The Mother Hips have flown under the radar as true indie music pioneers, but their brand of psychedelic power pop has kept them rocking the music scene for nearly two decades. They have been hailed by critics for their "rootsy mix of 70s rock and power pop" (pitchfork.com) and for their unflinching ability to "sing it sweet and play it dirty" (The New Yorker).

Check out this music video from The Mother Hips and see you in Vail tonight for the free concert!

HILARIOUS POLITICAL SATIRE GROUP THE CAPITOL STEPS RETURN TO THE VILAR CENTER ON MARCH 9

VAIL, Colorado—The Capitol Steps, political humorists that have made a more-than-a-quarter-century career of side-splitting song parodies, skits and satirical humor, return to the Vilar Performing Arts Center (VPAC) in Beaver Creek on Tuesday, March 9 at 7:30pm.
Global economic crises are such a downer, aren’t they? But they sure make good fodder for satire—along with international dust-ups, foot-in-mouth moments and corrupt governors. The Capitol Steps were born at a Senate staff Christmas party in 1981. Inspired by incumbent president and one-time Hollywood actor Richard Nixon, a group of Senate staffers determined that if entertainers could become politicians, then politicians could become entertainers. What has since emerged is a special brand of satirical humor that has played to audiences from Peoria to Pennsylvania Avenue.
No matter who is currently featured in the headlines, The Capitol Steps are equal opportunity offenders promising an evening full of bipartisan lampooning. Recent material from the troupe includes the media's love affair with the Nation's 44th President Barack Obama ("Obamamia"), Illinois Governor Blagojevich's attempted sale of the Senate seat ("Come Buy With Me") and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il singing show tunes ("How Do You Solve a Problem Like Korea?").
The Capitol Steps have recorded 29 albums, including their latest, Barackin' Around the Christmas Tree and Obama Mia! They've been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and can be heard four times a year on National Public Radio stations nationwide during their “Politics Takes a Holiday” radio specials.
“You have watched ‘Saturday Night Live’ and you tune in to Comedy Central every night for ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report.’ But when it comes to satire, you haven't seen the real thing until you have been to ‘The Capitol Steps’,” wrote The Washington Post.
The Capitol Steps have established themselves as VPAC audience favorites and return to Beaver Creek with brand new material for another evening of hilarity.
Tickets for The Capitol Steps are $50 and are available online at www.vilarpac.org, by calling 888.920.ARTS(2787) or in person at the box office in Beaver Creek.
