Lionshead has always been popular with families. On the right side of Vail Mountain, the intermediate ski runs are made for cruising. The ski school is right next to Vail's only gondola, which tops out high above the resort. Passengers often head up to Adventure Ridge, a winter recreation park with ice skating, tubing, ski sledding and a nature center. The drop-dead gorgeous views are worth thetrip alone. When summer heats up, the gondola transports you to great hiking and mountain biking - don't forget to take a picnic!
The Vail Library is a leisurely 3 minute walk along Gore Creek from Lionhead. With a fireplace, great periodicals and an extensive children's section, you'll hardly notice the passage of time.
Lionshead is in the throes of an extensive renovation with many remodeled lodges and vacation rentals. The brand new, very grand Arabelle boasts luxurious accommodations above new shops and eateries. The pedestrian mall links the base of the mountain to the lodging and an abundance of fun shops and casual dining spots.
The free In-Town shuttle loops regularly between Lionshead and Vail Village, but you're welcome to hoof it.
