Hiking
From rambling, easy-going nature walks in the villages to strenuous hiking trails on-mountain, the Vail and Beaver Creek area offers a hike for everyone. Everywhere you go, you'll be surrounded by alpine flora and fauna, with sights, smells and sounds unlike you've ever experienced.

Most summer days are absolutely exquisite... clear mountain air, warm sunshine and a delightful daytime temperature in the 70s or low 80s. The Vail and Beaver Creek hiking season is June through October, but may come earlier or leave later depending on the weather. Pack a picnic, and no matter the level or length of your hike, bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and of course, your camera. Hiking is FREE, and the memories are priceless.

Family Tip:
Jester Columbines

A mountain vacation is not complete without an afternoon among the wildflowers. Take a gondola ride to an alpine meadow, then romp and picnic among the trees. Hike or take the gondola back down.

The views are amazing and the experience is priceless.

Low-cost. Hassle-free.

Biking
One of the best ways to explore the nooks and crannies of Vail and Beaver Creek villages is on a bike. Local shops offer bicycle and helmet rental for adults and kids alike. For a low key cruise, explore the paved community paths that dot the Beaver Creek and Vail area. Eagle County offers 58 miles of paved recreational paths!

More adventurous? Try mountain biking! With 343 miles of mountain biking trails, Vail/Beaver Creek is a mountain biking mecca! Trails are everywhere. Stop in a local bike shop to rent your equipment or bring your own. Both Vail and Beaver Creek mountains have summer trail maps, and the local Forest Service office in Minturn is a good resource for maps and information on trails outside the ski resorts.

Chairlift Rides
This summer, take a chairlift ride up Vail or Beaver Creek mountain for the same gorgeous scenery and trail access you love in the winter. Hike down the mountain, or download on the chairlift back to the village. You can also load your mountain bike onto the chairlift and ride down the mountain; we promise, it's not cheating!
